Flight PR81918

  • Submitted By: Brian Springer
  • Departure Airport: Fayetteville Regl/Grannis (KFAY)
  • Arrival Airport: First Flight (KFFA)
  • Aircraft: CESSNA 210L (N567LJ)
  • Flight Time: 1
  • Date Submitted: 01/15/2016
  • Route: VFR - GPS Direct / Visual Navigation. While watching the VFR charts during flight, I noticed I was about to cross into the Phelps MOA at Cherry Point, so I turned to avoid that, only to find more restricted airspace around Albermarle. I was able to fly through the 'alley' between the two, and get back on course right before reaching Kill Devil Hills.

Brian Springer The approach into Kill Devil Hills (First Flight Airport), is always fun, and challenging, whether it is the day, or night. It is known for being hard to see until you are almost right on top of it, and it is in a fun place to visit. Kill Devil Hills is a historic point of interest, and is the place where Orville Wright first took a flight in a machine powered airplane. From the runway you can see the large Wright Brothers National Memorial. It is also a beautiful place to visit as it is near Nags Head, and the Outer Banks, NC. Now that I have safely arrived, I think I will take a helicopter tour of the area before I leave for another destination.
